Jordan Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 750ml

Estate Summary

Located in Stellenbosch Kloof, with vineyards influenced by cooling Atlantic breezes and varied soils, Jordan Wine Estate is renowned for producing precise, terroir-driven wines. Their Barrel Fermented Chardonnay represents the richer, more textured side of the estate’s style, combining ripe fruit expression with elegance and restraint, rather than overt heaviness.

Winemaking & Oak Influence

The grapes are hand-harvested and whole-bunch pressed before fermentation in French oak barrels, a portion of which are new. The wine undergoes partial malolactic fermentation, adding creaminess and roundness, and is aged on fine lees with regular bâtonnage, enhancing texture and complexity. Oak is carefully integrated to support, not dominate, the wine’s fruit and structure.

Tasting Notes

Pale gold in colour, this Chardonnay shows aromas of ripe citrus, peach and nectarine, layered with notes of vanilla, toasted almond, buttered brioche and subtle spice. The palate is rich yet balanced, offering flavours of stone fruit, lemon curd and gentle oak spice, supported by a creamy texture and fresh underlying acidity. The finish is long, elegant and well-structured, with a refined balance between fruit and oak.

Food Pairing

An excellent partner for roast chicken, creamy pasta, seafood in butter sauces, grilled lobster, pork dishes and soft cheeses. Its balance of richness and freshness makes it highly versatile at the table.

"So great to be able to receive a regular delivery of good wine rather than the usual 12 bottle case sold by most 'wine clubs' "

- Terry Wharton Hood -

Great wine at a great time, everytime
