Boschendal Elgin Chardonnay 750ml
Boschendal Elgin Chardonnay is singular in its expression of the pristine geographical nuances and unique character typical of its cool climate vineyard origins.
The grapes for this Chardonnay comes from vineyards located on well drained mountain slopes. The rocky Bokkeveld shale soils have a distinguished sub-layer of clay, and is only a stone’s throw away from the Atlantic Ocean. The distinct cool-climate conditions result in slow ripening of the grapes. These low-yielding blocks are the ideal expression of Elgin’s unique terroir. Every attempt is made to allow natural and dryland practices in the vineyards, with supplementary irrigation only being used if absolutely necessary. Grapes are harvested by hand between 22–23°B, ensuring only the top quality grapes make it to the cellar.
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes
Vibrant pale gold with a glimmer of green.
On the nose
Expressive grapefruit and Golden Delicious apple aromas detailed with graceful lime blossom, frangipani and white truffle aromas further embellished by discreet vanilla oak spice.
Palate
A generous palate that is powerful yet intricate. Pronounced citrus fruit purity is layered with hints of oak and signature minerality. Finishes with remarkable intensity and length.

Amazingly well balanced. Great creamy and vanilla flavour and textures and toasty notes from a descent amount of oak...but not too much. Supremely elegant Chardonnay definitely the best of the year for me! #boschendalwines #chardonnay
4,25* cinnamon, toffee, light cheese and fruits on the palate. Super interesting, Oaked but still light. Tasted at the estate in 4/22
Nice colder Chardonnay - getting close to a Tassie blend but slightly less buttery. Has the other components of citrus, especially lemon and a nice hint of oak.
Nutty and very interesting. Defined oak, butter and citrus. A little tart and very acidic, has no sweetness and no floral. Quite earthy. Hints of minerals.
Rich and creamy very nice
"So great to be able to receive a regular delivery of good wine rather than the usual 12 bottle case sold by most 'wine clubs' "
